Attack of the Clones
Zeit Magazin
The Marbled Crayfish is an invasive species that first appeared in 1995 at a reptile fair in Frankfurt. It has been created by spontaneous mutation and since this new species can reproduce asexually, only one little fellow is enough to start a whole new population. In less than 30 years, the marbled crayfish has spread allover Europe and even to Israel, Japan and Madagarska. I met scientists, gastronomes and a fisherman who want to turn this ecological nightmare into a solution for the problems of the future.
